'Eliza Perry' was established in 2004 by Andréa Trail following a visit to a bead wholesaler with a friend. Armed with an immense selection of glass beads and sterling silver findings, she set about making her first necklace collection.
Interested friends were invited to a simple open house on her back deck with items showcased hanging on old window frames. The success of this event prompted her to enter into this new adventure whole-heartedly.
Always a creative person by nature, Andréa's first exposure to jewellery making was at the age of 12 when she attended a community-run course for children. A well-crafted bezel-set amethyst ring was the primary result of the course.Through the years she made minor repairs to her broken jewellery but it wasn't until June 2005 that she continued her jewellery-making education with an intensive silversmithing course at George Brown College.
Her designs are inspired by everyday life - the color combinations might have been in a fabric swatch or
nature - and often begin by re-interpreting a piece found in a current fashion magazine.
Andréa takes the time and care needed to hand-select the majority of her materials. She uses sterling silver findings along with the highest quality semi-precious, glass, and crystal beads. Each piece is hand-crafted by Andréa with immense attention to detail and an eye for color.
In order to prevent personal boredom and to meet the needs of her customers, Andréa continuously sources new materials and offers new items. Andréa does her sourcing via yearly trips to New York City, hours on the internet and at her favourite haunts in Toronto.
'Eliza Perry' jewellery is available exclusively via open houses, appointments, private jewellery parties, online orders and trunk show sales.
The inspiration for her business name, 'Eliza Perry', came when Andréa realized that by combining her middle name and her husband's middle name she had 'Eliza Perry'.
Eliza Perry continues strong five years after its inception due to the fact that creating beautiful jewellery still fulfils a creative desire within Andréa.
